The Sarnies × Cursor Hackathon ("Event") is a collaborative development event organized by Sarnies Group ("Organizer") in partnership with Cursor ("Co-Organizer"). By registering for or participating in this Event, you ("Participant") agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Eligibility
Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
Participation is open to individuals and teams of 2-5 members.
Employees of Sarnies Group may participate but are not eligible for cash prizes.
Participants must register through the official registration process managed by Cursor.
3. Intellectual Property Rights
Key Point: Participants retain full ownership of all intellectual property they create during the Event. The Organizer receives only a limited license to evaluate and internally test submissions.
3.1 Participant Ownership
All code, designs, documentation, and other materials created by Participants during the Event ("Submissions") remain the sole intellectual property of the Participants who created them.
Pre-existing intellectual property brought to the Event by Participants remains their property.
Participants retain all rights to commercialize, license, or further develop their Submissions.
3.2 License to Organizer
Participants grant the Organizer a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to view, test, and evaluate Submissions for internal purposes only.
This license does not permit the Organizer to use Submissions in production, commercialize them, or distribute them externally without a separate written agreement.
If the Organizer wishes to develop a Submission into a production system, a separate commercial engagement must be negotiated with the Participant team.
3.3 Open Source
Participants may choose to open-source their Submissions under any license of their choosing.
If open-sourced, the Organizer's use will be governed by the applicable open-source license terms.
4. Data and Systems
4.1 Provided Data
The Organizer will provide mock datasets, sample menus, and fictional operational data for use during the Event.
No real customer data, financial records, or personally identifiable information will be provided to Participants.
Any data resembling real information is purely fictional and for demonstration purposes only.
4.2 System Access
Participants will not be granted access to any internal systems, APIs, databases, or infrastructure of the Organizer.
Unauthorized attempts to access Organizer systems are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate disqualification and legal action.
4.3 Data Handling
Participants must not collect, store, or process any real customer data during the Event.
Any incidental exposure to real data must be reported immediately to Event staff.
5. Prizes and Awards
5.1 Prize Pool
1st Place: THB 30,000
2nd Place: THB 15,000
3rd Place: THB 10,000
5.2 Prize Conditions
Prizes are awarded per team, not per individual. Distribution among team members is the team's responsibility.
Prize amounts are subject to applicable tax withholdings as required by Thai law.
The Organizer reserves the right to adjust prize amounts prior to the Event with reasonable notice.
Prizes will be disbursed within 30 days of the Event conclusion via bank transfer.
5.3 Judging
Submissions will be judged on: Relevance, UX Clarity, Creativity, Feasibility, and Demo Quality.
Judging decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
Judges may include representatives from Sarnies, Cursor, and invited industry experts.
6. Conduct and Behavior
6.1 Expected Conduct
Participants must behave professionally and respectfully toward other Participants, staff, and venue personnel.
Harassment, discrimination, or intimidation of any kind will not be tolerated.
Participants must comply with venue rules and local laws at all times.
6.2 Disqualification
The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any Participant for:
Violation of these Terms and Conditions
Disruptive or disrespectful behavior
Attempting to access unauthorized systems or data
Submitting work that was substantially completed before the Event
Plagiarism or misrepresentation of work
7. Media and Publicity
7.1 Event Documentation
The Organizer and Co-Organizer may photograph, video record, and livestream portions of the Event.
By participating, you consent to the use of your likeness, voice, and Submissions in promotional materials, social media, and press coverage.
7.2 Opt-Out
Participants who do not wish to appear in media may request an opt-out by notifying Event staff in writing prior to the Event start.
Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate such requests, but complete exclusion cannot be guaranteed in group settings.
8. Liability and Disclaimers
8.1 Assumption of Risk
Participation in the Event is voluntary and at the Participant's own risk.
The Organizer is not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage to personal property during the Event.
8.2 No Warranties
All Submissions are provided "as-is" with no warranties of any kind.
The Organizer makes no representations about the suitability of any Submission for production use.
8.3 Limitation of Liability
In no event shall the Organizer or Co-Organizer be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to the Event.
Total liability shall not exceed the value of prizes actually awarded to the Participant.
9. Confidentiality
Participants may be exposed to business information during briefings and discussions.
Participants agree not to disclose confidential business information learned during the Event to third parties.
General knowledge about publicly-facing operations (e.g., menu items, café locations) is not considered confidential.
10. Future Engagement
Pathway to Paid Work: Standout teams may be invited to discuss paid engagements to develop their Submissions into production systems. Any such engagement would be subject to separate commercial terms negotiated in good faith.
The Event does not create any employment or contractor relationship between Participants and the Organizer.
No Participant is obligated to accept any future engagement offer.
The Organizer is under no obligation to offer future engagements to any Participant.
11. General Provisions
11.1 Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Thailand. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bangkok, Thailand.
11.2 Amendments
The Organizer reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated to registered Participants via email at least 7 days before the Event.
11.3 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
11.4 Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between Participants and the Organizer regarding the Event and supersede any prior agreements or understandings.
By registering for or participating in the Sarnies × Cursor Hackathon, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
